BioGenware is proud to announce that Utility Patents has been granted in the USA and Canada for the Speculet and Design Patents granted for the Speculet and Medical Device Packaging. Design patents have been granted internationally in Europe, Great Britain, Japan, Israel, Mexico, Canada, India, and Brazil. Utility and Design patents are pending in the same and additional markets.

Speculet is a novel, disposable and comfortable eyelid speculum designed primarily for intravitreal injections. Global intravitreal injections are estimated to total over 24 million annually. In the US approximately 70% of physicians use an eyelid speculum for the majority of intravitreal injections. Speculet is unique in providing easy rotational insertion, stable exposure of the injection site, and comfort for the patient.

A favorable marketing analysis has been completed. Next steps are to determine the best path to offer Speculet to the retina community.

I used it for punctal occlusion in a patient with a very small palpebral aperture and difficult to control blink reflex, really was a great help. I wouldn't hesitate to use the same technique. Also would be excellent for FB removal. I know it would be popular in the eye care community.
