Pennine Lancs LOC invite you to a CPD session on:

'The Role of Multifocal Soft Contact Lenses in Myopia Management' presented by Andrew Price from The ADP Consultancy.

Myopia is the most common ocular disorder and is generally the result of abnormal elongation of the eye. DVA can be improved with spectacles, contact lenses and refractive surgery, however these do not address the underlying abnormal enlargement of the eye. Myopia places substantial burdens both on individuals and society and increases the risk of eye disease later in life. Can MF SCLs play a role in myopia control?

The Learning Objectives are:

1. To understand the role specific contact lenses can play in paediatric myopia control and which designs are most appropriate, based on best refractive myopia control effect and clinical safety when being worn by children. (s.5) (Clinical practice)

2. To be able to communicate the increasing risk of myopia in pathology as an adult and the role myopia management contact lenses may play in reducing those risks. (s.2) (Communication)

3. Understand current good practice in myopia management with soft multifocal contact lenses, including the importance of on label use with reference to recent clinical research, pre-prescribing/continuing assessment and when referral may be required for different forms of myopia management. (Speciality CPD – Contact Lenses)

Time: Feb 8, 2022 07:30 PM in London
