Lens prescribing for younger patients. was created by Andrew D Price
A survey reported in the journal Eye & Contact Lens identifies a stronger relationship between corneal inflammatory events and 2 weekly disposable lenses than daily disposal in younger patients. An abstract can be found here

I wonder if daily disposal lenses are preferred for younger patients by others?

I find that when fitting an under 16, that the parents usually want daily disposables anyway, so that they can control supply and that most children start with ocassionaln wear, before progressing to full time wear.
Usually something along the line of “see how much they actually wear them” then we review at their 3-6 month check.
I find that I am fitting more and more daily disposables to all ages of patients. I’m probably on a 75/25 split between daily and reusables.

This is interesting, not only in its prime subject matter but perhaps how the subject of SA might have real implications for younger patients. Note to self: discuss SA of lens design in much more depth with CL industry.
