Interesting results from this study showing now slowing down of AL with CD MF! Any idea's why?

I don't have a direct answer to your question. However the general axial length v dioptres of myopia is interesting, as I suppose it's theoretically possible that our measured change in myopia is not directly reflecting internal eye axial changes, if an axial length change is accompanied by a counter-balancing refractive change.
To take the idea further, is it possible that some patients will have an abnormally longer eye (with its implications) but they could be emmetropic or nearly so?
I'm not sure if Brian Tompkins is registered on The Forum! I would be interested in his thoughts on this.

Thanks Andrew, I think this particular study is quite small and probably too small to draw many conclusions. Sorry we didn't quite catch up at the BCLA UK events!

Hello Keith and other MM experts:
On an allied question - given the fact I do not have an axial length measurement device and some patients are reluctant to stop ortho-k wear for a washout period and/or a cyclo refraction every 6 months, is it reasonable to assume if topographies are stable and non-cylco refraction immediately after ortho-k removal is stable (compared to previous refraction under same conditions) therefore axial length is unchanged? This would assume there is no equal but opposite crystalline lens change hiding an axial length change!
I hope I have explained my hypothesis well enough. At least in this way we could reasonably infer there is no axial length change in ortho-k even if we can’t measure it?
In non-ortho-k patients the washout period doesn’t arise, so easier to compare apples with apples, but again if non-cyclo refraction and topographies are unchanged are we establishing no axial length change by proxy?
